Abstract
We report a detailed summary of the scientific meeting held in March, 1996, to honor Albert Whitford on the occasion of his 90th birthday. W e give a description of his life and scientific accomplishments follow ed by a report on the research presented in the meeting, mostly concer ning the Galactic bulge.
