Abstract
Epidemiology is the study of diseases and disorders and the factors in fluencing them. Epidemiologic studies provide a rationale for treatmen t research. Disorders of high prevalence generally receive more public attention and more research funds. This article outlines the availabl e epidemiologic studies in language and argues for more research of th is type through partnerships between epidemiologists, language researc hers, and clinicians.
