J. Baech et al., FREQUENCY OF HLA-B27 SUBTYPES IN A DANISH POPULATION AND IN DANISH PATIENTS WITH ANKYLOSING-SPONDYLITIS, Tissue antigens, 49(5), 1997, pp. 499-502
Polymerase chain reaction in combination with sequence-specific oligon
ucleotide probes were used to analyze nine HLA-B27 subtypes among 51 h
ealthy HLA-B27 positive Danish blood donors and 30 Danish HLA-B27 posi
tive patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). In the group of health
y Danes we found two subtypes, B2705 (90.2%) and B*2702 (9.8%), howev
er, among the AS patients only the B2705 subtype was detected. We did
not find a significant evidence for associations between AS and a par
ticular HLA-B27 subtype in a Danish population.
