Abstract
Roots of tare (Colocasia esculenta [L.] Schott cvs Bun-long and Lehua maoli) exuded increasing concentrations of oxalate with increasing Al stress. This exudation was a specific response to excess Al and not to P deficiency. Addition of oxalate to Al-containing solutions ameliora ted the toxic effect of Al.
