Abstract
Due to their photophysical and photochemical properties stilbenoid com pounds (Scheme 1) can be used for many applications in materials scien ce. In particular an NLO system, a photoresist, a photoconductive mate rial and some imaging and switching techniques in stilbenoid liquid cr ystals are discussed here.
