Abstract
Irradiation of the dinitrogen complex W(N-2)(2)(dppe)(2) 1 [dppe = bis -1,2-(diphenylphosphino)ethane] in the presence of diphenylphosphine r esults in P-H bond activation to give the phosphido complex WH(Ph-2)(d ppe)(2) 2. The X-ray crystal structure of the phosphido complex 2 indi cates a W-P bond length of 2.28 Angstrom that is consistent with a W-P double bond. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
