Abstract
We have designed, built, and tested a total-electron-yield detector fo r the collection of x-ray absorption spectra. The virtues of this dete ctor are its compact size and simplicity of design, fabrication. assem bly, and use. Sample exchange and realignment with respect to the inci dent beam are easily performed. The design and performance of this det ector are presented and discussed in comparison with other detection s chemes.
