Modern Management Applied to Academic Decisions

Modern management has much to offer academic administrators who seek new ways to deal with complex institutional problems. There is a danger, however, in applying quantitative, mathematical tools to educational issues which are substantive and non-quantitative. Care should be exercised in applying such techniques as: cost-benefit analysis, linear programming, management by objectives and systems analysis.
