Goals and Direction in Personal Planning

Personal planning involves imaging the future and deriving the consequences of that image for present patterns of behavior. People usually suppose that the future can only be imaged in terms of goals, but alternative modes for planning, such as domain and direction planning, do not involve goal setting. Planning does not have to be teleological to be directed.
