A. Zeuner et al., EXPERIMENTS ON NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE MAGNETOVISCOSITY IN AN ALTERNATING MAGNETIC-FIELD, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 58(5), 1998, pp. 6287-6293
Recently it has been predicted and shown experimentally that the visco
sity of a magnetic fluid flowing through a capillary pipe (Hagen-Poise
uille flow) can be reduced under the influence of an alternating, line
arly polarized magnetic field. We present experimental results of the
amplitude and frequency dependence of this ''negative viscosity effect
.'' Experimental data are quantitatively compared with results we have
obtained by numeric integration of a prevailing model. [S1063-651X(98
