Mr. Amin et al., MODULATIONAL INSTABILITY OF DUST-ACOUSTIC AND DUST-ION-ACOUSTIC WAVES, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 58(5), 1998, pp. 6517-6523
Using the standard reductive perturbation technique, a nonlinear Schro
dinger equation is derived to study the modulational instability of fi
nite amplitude dust-acoustic (DA) and dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) waves ag
ainst oblique perturbations (with respect to the propagation direction
of the carrier waves) in an unmagnetized dusty plasma. It is shown th
at both the DA and DIA waves are modulationally unstable. Possible sta
tionary states of the wave packets can appear as envelope solitons. [S
