Abstract
Examination of liaison emergence provides an initial example of a middle range synthesis of the two perspectives that dominate organizational communication research: communication climate and network analysis.Three climate factors-relational, cognitive, and motivational-are posited to determine liaison emergence. In turn, liaison emergence is crucial to the systemic processes of coordination and control.
