A disturbance cancellation controller for the active dynamic vibration
absorber is modified to follow the frequency of disturbance without a
ny complicated adaptive algorithm. The original compensator has an int
ernal model of a sinusoidal disturbance. When the frequency of disturb
ance varies, the dynamics of the model must also be altered to be iden
tical to those of disturbance for perfect regulation. In the modified
compensator, control input is generated by calculating a convolution i
ntegral instead of solving the corresponding state-space equation; exo
genous signals synchronized with the actual disturbance are used in th
e convolution. The performance of the designed controller is experimen
tally studied.
