An investigation was made of the operation of a laser amplifier based
on a chain reaction of fluorine with hydrogen (deuterium), initiated b
y powerful light sources. The conditions for attaining an amplifier en
ergy efficiency of similar to 100% were determined experimentally. Stu
dies were made of the spectral characteristics of the laser radiation.
The permissible degree of mismatch between the operating times of the
master oscillator and amplifier was determined.
