Organizational Socialization and Group Development: Toward an Integrative Perspective

It is suggested here that conceptual similarities between organizational socialization and group development, as well as the frequently simultaneous occurrence of these two processes, necessitate an integrative treatment of socialization and group development.Stage models of socialization and group development are compared, and three processes common to both are identified as one means of integration.Three specific research ideas that acknowledge these process linkages are offered as suggestions for future research.
