A charged global monopole formed as a consequence of the spontaneous b
reakdown of a global symmetry should have a mass that grows linearly w
ith the distance off its core where the gravitational effect of this c
onfiguration is equivalent to that of the deficit solid angle in the m
etric and the relatively tiny mass at the origin. In this paper it is
shown that this small effective mass depends on the charge in that the
re exists a negative mass when the charge number Q is less than a crit
ical value Q(cr) and that there appears a positive one when Q > Q(cr).
