Abstract
Some aspects of the dynamics of systems of coupled non-linear oscillat ors are discussed. By examining statistical properties of the dynamics , there can be synchronized states that are dynamically stable but nev ertheless unstable on addition of noise. Some indication is given of h ow ergodic theory can help understand such bifurcations in general.
