Abstract
This tutorial paper is the manuscript of a lecture given in the Harnac k-Haus in Berlin during the autumn school 1998 on Metal Clusters. The aim of this lecture was to give some hints for quantitative electron m icroscopy. The interpretation of electron microscopic images depends o n the mode of contrast. In particular the phase contrast is described and how it affects the images.
