J. Hal Reneau, professor at Arizona State University, discusses his experiences during the 1994-1995 academic year while working in the finance organization at the world headquarters of the Semiconductor Products Sector of Motorola Inc. Reneau presents an overview of Motorola, and he describes how he became involved with the company and some of the work teams and projects he experienced. He also discusses what he considers to be an unacceptable gap between practice and academia.
