Am. Jacobi et Rk. Shah, AIR-SIDE FLOW AND HEAT-TRANSFER IN COMPACT HEAT-EXCHANGERS - A DISCUSSION OF ENHANCEMENT MECHANISMS, Heat transfer engineering, 19(4), 1998, pp. 29-41
The behavior of air flows in complex heat exchanger passages is review
ed with a focus on the heat transfer effects of boundary-layer develop
ment, turbulence, spanwise mid streamwise vortices, and wake managemen
t. Each of these flow features is discussed for the plain, wavy, and i
nterrupted passages found in contemporary compact heat exchanger desig
ns. Results from the literature are used to hell, explain the role of
these mechanisms in heat transfer enhancement strategies.
