E. Hanusovska et al., APPLICATION OF NMR-SPECTROSCOPY IN BIOCHEMICAL-STUDIES OF TUMOR-CELLSSENSITIVE AND RESISTANT TO ANTICANCER DRUGS, Neoplasma, 45(4), 1998, pp. 187-197
Drug resistance is a prominent problem of cancer therapy Differences i
n quantity and quality of many metabolites in normal and malignant cel
ls and their changes after treatment by anticancer drugs can be detect
ed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) both in vivo and in vitro. The
results of in vivo and in vitro H-1, C-13, F-19 and P-31 NMR spectrosc
opy and their correlation with the degree of resistance to anticancer
drugs are discussed. Monitoring of treatment and development of drug r
esistance by this non-invasive method could be useful not only in canc
er research related to drug resistance but also in clinical medical on
cology.
