Abstract
The steel and scrap industries have initiated a quality management pro
gramme based on the European Scrap Grading System, which has become ef
fective in the EU on January Ist, 1996. Scrap quality is being measure
d regularly, especially in French steelmills, to monitor the evolution
of scrap properties and check the performance of suppliers.
