Memory depends upon a network of interconnected and functionally relat ed cortical and subcortical areas including, at the very least, the pr efrontal cortex and the medial temporal lobe structures, Evidence is n ow emerging to relate these neuroanatomical regions to specific aspect s of mnemonic processing.
