Abstract
With several thousand liver transplants being performed each year and many patients being managed in their local medical centers, much of th e interpretation of transplant liver biopsy specimens has moved from t he transplant hospital to the community setting, This article discusse s both typical and more peculiar changes that occur in the transplant liver biopsy specimen, Accurate interpretation requires clear knowledg e of these possible changes as well as knowledge of clinical data, suc h as time elapsed since transplantation and the patient's primary dise ase.
