Abstract
The data of the Farming Systems Research Project in the CCS HAU, Hisar , from 1984-85 to 1990-91 were analysed for estimating the input-outpu t relationship and the resource use efficiency of 2 mixed farming syst ems, viz keeping 3 crossbred cows and 3 buffaloes each on I ha irrigat ed land. The study revealed that although there had been a degree of r esource use inefficiency, the net income from the system with 3 crossb red cows on 1 ha land was more than the net income from the system wit h 3 buffaloes on 1 ha land. These studies further revealed that there can be much, scope for increasing the profitability of these systems b y optimizing use of green and dry fodder in proportion with concentrat e.
