Sm. Hiremath et Zg. Patel, EFFECT OF WINTER GREEN-MANURING AND NITROGEN APPLICATION AN SUMMER RICE (ORYZA-SATIVA), Indian Journal of Agronomy, 43(1), 1998, pp. 71-76
A field experiment was conducted at Navasari (Gujarat), to study the e
ffect of winter green-manuring an performance of summer rice (Oryza sa
tiva L.) with 3 green-manures species, vir. Sesbania aculeata, Sesbani
a rostrata and Crotalaria juncea, and 5 N levels of summer rice (0, 25
, 50, 75 and 100 kg/ha). Absolute and recommended dose of N (RDN 100 k
g/ha) treatments were also included. Growth attributes of Summer rice,
viz. leaf-area index, leaf-area duration, crop-growth rate and net as
similation rate, were comparable with green-manuring of S. aculeata or
C. juncea alone and RDN. Yield and yield attributes of rice with gree
n-manuring of S. aculeata or C. juncea and RDN were also at par. Appli
cation of N from 25-100 kg/ha along with green-manuring of S. aculeata
and C, juncea: increased the growth, yield and yield parameters of ri
ce with highest values at 100 kg N/ha. The performance of rice after i
ncorporation of S, rostrata varied and it recorded lower growth,.:yiel
d;and yield parameters than RDN.
