Abstract
t-Butyldimethylsilyl 2-[4-(4-(hex-5-enyloxy)phenylazo)phenyl] ether (1 ) was synthesized on route to a polysiloxane system with azobenzene pe ndent groups. Compound (1) produced clear, orange-coloured crystals (s pace group P (1) over bar with a 6.346(2), b 7.602(2), c 28.706(8) Ang strom, alpha 89.84(2), beta 85.17(2), gamma 72.29(2)degrees, Z 2) whic h allowed the structure to be determined by X-ray diffraction.
