Dc. Barbacci et al., MULTIANODE DETECTION IN ELECTROSPRAY-IONIZATION TIME-OF-FLIGHT MASS-SPECTROMETRY, Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 9(12), 1998, pp. 1328-1333
An electrospray ionization ion source coupled to a time-of-night mass
analyzer incorporating a multi-anode time-to-digital converter is desc
ribed. High-speed data acquisition (kHz mass spectral acquisition) rat
es are achieved. The four-anode detector produces a significant increa
se in detection/counting efficiency over that for a single-anode detec
tor. In this work a 2.5 times increase in detection efficiency is demo
nstrated. The multi-anode detector is also used as a diagnostic tool t
o optimize transmission of the ion optics. (C) 1998 American Society f
