Abstract
This paper analyzes the factorization of the inverse of a Cauchy-Vande rmonde matrix as a product of bidiagonal matrices. Factorizations of C auchy-Vandermonde matrices are also considered. The results are applie d to derive a fast algorithm for solving linear systems whose coeffici ent matrices are Cauchy-Vandermonde matrices. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scienc e Inc. All rights reserved.
