Abstract
Renormalization group smoothing in the context of classically perfect actions is employed in order to resolve the topological structure of f inite temperature non-Abelian gauge fields in the neighbourhood of the deconfinement transition. We particularly concentrate on the interrel ation between semi-classical local excitations of selfdual fields and Abelian monopoles.
