Abstract
A series of quaternary ammonium halides of 1H pyrrolo (2,3-b) pyridine (7-Azaindole) has been synthesized and characterized through spectros copic techniques. All the derivatives along with parent compound were tested for their antibacterial activity against several Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The activity was either comparable with or greater than the 7-azaindole, the parent compound I against all the t ested bacteria.
