Abstract
In this paper we explore some of the features of large N supersymmetri c and nonsupersymmetric gauge theories using Maldacena's duality conje ctures. We show that the resulting strong coupling behavior of the gau ge theories is consistent with our qualitative expectations of these t heories. Some of these consistency checks are highly nontrivial and gi ve additional evidence for the validity of the proposed dualities. [S0 556-2821(98)00618-3].
