Abstract
The author; demonstrate WDM transmission in the unexplored 1580nm band , for the first time, using newly developed gain-shifted EDFAs. By usi ng the 1580nm band, equally-spaced eight 10Gbit/s WDM channel, repeate rless transmission over 160km dispersion-shifted fibre is achieved wit hout any four-wave mixing degradation.
