Abstract
Reaction of steroidal ketones 1-5 with 2-aminoethanol in the presence of p-TsOH affords 3 beta-chloro-5 alpha-cholestan-6(R)-spiro-1', 3'-ox azolidine 6, 3 beta-acetoxy-5 alpha-cholestan-6(R)-spiro-1', 3'-oxazol idine 7, 5 alpha-cholestan-6(R)-spiro-1', 3'-oxazolidine 8, 3 beta-chl oro-5 alpha-stigmastan-6(R)-spiro-1', 3'-oxazolidine 9 and 3 beta-acet oxy-5 alpha-stigmastan-6(R)-spiro-1', 3'-oxazolidine 10 respectively. The structures of these compounds 6-10 have been established on the ba sis of their elemental analyses and spectral data.
