Abstract
We present data on using the thermoelectric method for grading steels, determining the carbon content during smelting and in the carburized layer, estimating the decarburizing activity of salt baths, and determ ining the amount of retained austenite in quenched steels. We consider designs of thermal transducers for measuring absolute and differentia l thermal emf values.
