Abstract
A first expeditious total synthesis of (+/-)-Nimbonone 10, a novel nat urally occurring diterpenoid isolated from the Neem tree, is described . In order to induce the ethyl substituent, Friedel-Crafts acetylation and then decarbonylation have been employed as the key steps.
