The relativistic cne-step model of photoemission in its version for se
veral atoms per unit cell is applied to the intermetallic compound GdC
u. Here we present normal and off-normal photoelectron spectra from th
e (110) surface of antiferromagnetic GdCu. The theoretical photoemissi
on investigation is based on muffin-tin potentials calculated self-con
sistently within the tight-binding LMTO method. Ln order to interpret
the various transitions in the calculated spectra, we discuss our phot
oemission results in terms of the corresponding band structure along t
he Sigma-direction in the Brillouin zone. Furthermore, we compare our
results with experimental data. A reasonable overall agreement between
measured and calculated spectra has been found.
