QUALITY AND BEHAVIOR OF THE CHALK AQUIFER ON THE NORD-PAS-DE-CALAIS SHORELINE

Along the Nord-Pas-de-Calais coast, the chalk aquifer is in contact wi th the sea and the aquiferous Quaternary formations forming the coasta l plain ('Bas-Champs' and sand-dunes). To obtain information on the be haviour of the chalk aquifer in the 'Bas-Champs' area, a hydrochemical analysis has been carried out on the available drillings and complete d by a geophysical survey. The results thereby obtained provide a much clearer image of the phenomena governing the groundflows and their in teractions around the littoral limit of the chalk aquifer.
