Abstract
We investigated an excited electronic state induced by atomic oxygen a dsorbed on Cu(lll) by means of time-resolved two-photon photoemission spectroscopy. In contrast to a system investigated previously, cesium adsorbed on Cu(lll), no increase in the relaxation time of the photoex cited electrons due to the resonance time of the excited oxygen state was detected within our time resolution. The difference between the tw o systems will be discussed, taking the specific adsorption sites of t he adsorbates on the Cu(lll)surface into consideration.
