Abstract
The structure of the exopolysaccharide produced by Alteromonas macleod ii subsp. fijiensis recovered from a deep-sea hydrothermal vent has be en investigated. By means of chemical analysis and NMR studies, the re peating unit of the polymer was deduced to be a branched hexasaccharid e with the structure shown. [GRAPHICS] (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
