The availability of an angiologist is an exeption in primary care hosp
itals. If present, he is responsible for local and acute treatment of
in-patients suffering from arterial or venous vascular diseases, altho
ugh his diagnostical and therapeutical options are restricted by logis
tical as well as budgetary limitations. He is qualified to coordinate
interdisciplinary treatment in cooperation with external interventiona
l radiologists and vascular surgeons.
