Arterial and venous diseases are common in ger-iatric patients. Cerebr
al infarction, acute or chronic ischemia of the limb, phlebothrombosis
and its sequela is a frequent leading diagnosis. Frequently vascular
diseases occur as complications in sick old patients and they are a ma
jor cause for the loss of independency. Activation of the patient is a
n important part of conservative vascular treatment. The therapeutical
aims have to consider primarily the highest possible quality of life
together with the least possible invasiveness.
