S. Lindequist et al., DIAGNOSTIC QUALITY IN HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAPHY - COMPARISON BETWEEN IODIXANOL AND IOTROLAN, Acta radiologica, 39(6), 1998, pp. 730-733
Purpose: To compare the diagnostic quality and adverse events of the w
ater-soluble, non-ionic, iso-osmolar, dimeric contrast media iodixanol
and iotrolan in hysterosalpingography (HSG). Material and Methods. On
e hundred and twenty patients participated in a double-blind randomize
d parallel-group phase-III study. Questionnaires and patient interview
s were used. Diagnostic quality was assessed using a visual analogue s
cale and the quality in specific regions was rated using a categorical
scale. Results. Overall diagnostic quality was equal for the two grou
ps. There was no statistically significant difference between the two
groups in diagnostic quality in the specific regions of interest. No d
ifferences between the contrast media were found with regard to advers
e events. Conclusion. Both contrast media provided images of high diag
nostic quality in HSG.
