S. Zeilinger et al., MULTIPATH CHANNEL CHARACTERISTICS USING SPECTRAL-ANALYSIS OF THE SIGNAL POWER-DENSITY, IEEE transactions on broadcasting, 44(4), 1998, pp. 527-539
This paper introduces a concept to quantify the indirect signals in a
multipath environment. By definition multipath occurs when a wave prop
agates to a point in space via different paths. The multipath is cause
d by reflection of the direct wave off objects such as buildings, towe
rs, hills, and vehicles. A technique was developed in which the power
density from a mobile receiver is recorded over time. By examination o
f the Fourier transform of the power density the number of indirect fi
elds can be calculated as well as the reflection coefficient for each
indirect field. The theory for this technique is developed and the lim
itations of the technique are noted. A few specific case studies were
examined using the theory developed in this technique.
