The purpose of this study was to analyze intraoperative and postoperat
ive complications during the learning curve In phacoemulsification. Da
ta from the first 200 consecutive phacoemulsifications performed by a
single surgeon were retrospectively analyzed. The conclusion drawn was
that, with proper selection and preparation of the patients, and with
careful surgical technique, serious intraoperative and postoperative
complications can be avoided even during the learning curve in phacoem
ulsification.
