Abstract
In this paper, we present a model that describes the stages of the-imp lementation of an information system in a health care organization. Th e model offers no explanation of the implementation process but rather describes in a cyclic order the domains that are relevant when implem enting a system. The model offers thus an opportunity to identify gaps in our knowledge and understanding of implementation processes and pr ovides also the conceptual basis for a higher education course of heal th informatics that is focusing on organizational change and the pivot al role of information and communication technology.
