Y. Ihara et al., ANALYSIS OF THE MOTION ACCURACY OF 5-AXIS CONTROLLED MACHINING CENTERS USING DBB METHOD, International journal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 32(3), 1998, pp. 188-193
Presently machine tools are available in various axis configurations t
hat vary from the conventional type of three orthogonal linen axes to
the one with both linear and rotary axes. The usage of 5-axis machinin
g centers has been increasing in recent years due to the demand for hi
gher machining efficiency and the need for the complexity of the compo
nents to be machined. The contouring accuracy of a machining center (M
C) is considered to be one of the most crucial features especially for
machining mold components. In this study, the DBB device was employed
to measure 5-axis machining centers. In particular, the measurement p
rocedure for rotary axes was proposed.
