Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) has been reported in patients receivin
g bone marrow transplantation. However, only a few cases of HUS follow
ing autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) have
been reported. We present a case of HUS developing after autologous P
BSCT in a 40-year-old man with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, It appears that
the chemotherapeutic agents administered during the conditioning regi
men for PBSCT may have played an important role in the development of
HUS in our patient. In the present case, the combination therapy of vi
ncristine, methylprednisolone, and ticlopidine hydrochloride was effec
tive.
