CHEMOMETRIC STUDY OF THE QUALITY OF GROUNDWATERS IN 2 AREAS OF THE APULIA REGION (SOUTHERN ITALY)

The present work illustrates a study on the pollution phenomena of gro undwaters in the province of Lecce, specifically in the areas of Arneo and Ugento - Li Foggi. Attention has been focused both on the chemica l characterisation of the waters and on the interpretation of the resu lts obtained through statistical analysis. For a better interpretation of the datal a technique of multivariate statistical analysis (Princi pal Component Analysis (PCA)) has been adopted with which a structural study of the data has been made possible as well as a representation of the changes in the chemical characteristics of waters as a function of the hydrogeological and anthropic conditions.
