Abstract
An impurity in the initial scale-up batch of PDA-641 was identified an d the pathway of its formation was established. The precursor of the i mpurity was formed by magnesium Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley-Oppenauer rea ction during the Grignard addition step. As a result of the investigat ion, the level of the impurity could be reduced 6-fold in the subseque nt batch.
